Drums/Arranger Songwriter
Seasoned performer and musical polyglot Asa Nero found an early connection to music and cultivated it into a multi-faceted career. He works as a composer, educator, sideman, and bandleader in the DFW area, having performed at venues such as Scat Jazz Lounge, Revelers Hall, and The Free Man. When he relocated from the Washington, D.C. area to attend the University of North Texas, he brought insight from his mentors in the D.C. scene along with an impressive list of credentials from many years of gigging on the east coast as a youth. Continuing this trajectory as an undergraduate, he performed original music at the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival and the Detroit Jazz Festival in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Asa graduated from UNT in 2024 with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Drums, and is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Jazz Composition/Arranging.
